Into the Heart of the Father

The sun shines brightly through the car windows. You sway to the rhythm of the car as it dodges the potholes and bumps along the dirt, village road. A little girl with a colorful hijab waves at you as you drive by her walking along the road. Everything is so new, but your heart is excited and expectant! You pray in the Holy Spirit under your breath as you park the car by a few small shops. You get out of the car with your two team mates- Lucas and Musa. To the left you can see men working on building a local mosque for the village to pray at. The heat of the sun warms your skin as your body sweats in an attempt to cool off. You pull out your sunglasses and put them on as you start to walk along the dirt road toward the village. You can see the quaint village houses in the distance. You come to the first home and walk up to greet the Mama sitting on the porch making rope. “Hodi, Hodi,” you say as you walk up. The Mama greets you and welcomes you all to her home. You sit on the porch and get to know her. You try to learn how to make rope from the coconut shell hairs she has piled by her. She rolls the tiny strands together on her leg into tightly wound strands of rope. She makes it look so easy; but you are not very good at making rope the first day. Your team mate Musa starts to ask her questions about her culture. “What do you do when you are sick, Mama.” Your other team mate translates this into Swahili. She tells us that people usually go to the hospital or witch doctor. “Does this cost you money when you go to the witch doctor or hospital?” She says of course. Your team mate then proceeds to ask, “What would you say if I told you there was a way to receive healing that was a free gift?” She looks skeptical, but curious. Musa begins to share a story of healing in his own life. He was sick with stomach issues for a long time when he was younger. Someone shared with him this message of healing and prayed for him in the name of Jesus. He was completely healed! Musa proceeds to ask if there is anything she needs prayer for. Her daughter is also listening in the conversation, standing in the doorway. The mama asks us to pray for her legs that are in a lot of pain. You are excited and agree to pray for her in the name of Jesus. You get up, walk over to the mama, and sit by her. You ask if you can lay your hands on her legs. She agrees. You then say a simple prayer and ask for Jesus to show His love to this woman and take the pain away. You finish praying and asked her how the pain is. She responds that the pain has went down and her legs are feeling better with a smile on her face. You then pray for her daughter who had been dealing migraines and stomach issues. You pray a simple pray with her as well. The daughter also says she feels better as well. You rejoice with your team and praise the Lord. Later that day, you get to share the message of Jesus with these beautiful ladies of how he came to bring freedom and healing to there lives. This is just the beginning of the journey of loving these ladies and this village, but your heart rejoices that the Lord is opening doors in the middle of a small village in Tanzania for the message of the gospel to be made known. The adventure is just beginning. You smile just so happy exuding the glow of the joy of the Lord. This village and that day will be forever etched in your mind. You will go back again and learn to love the people even deeper. The Father’s love for His children will grow stronger and stronger  inside you as you learn how to fully embrace His sons and daughters from the overflow of love He has poured out on you. You are excited for the adventure that lies ahead. You wave goodbye to the Mama and her daughter and continue deeper into the village.
