Life flows from love, from abiding in the one who is love. I love to picture a lush, green tree whose roots go down deep into a vibrant heart. This tree is planted, resting by streams of water. This tree produces multi-dimensional and generational fruit from being connected to the one who is love.
The love of God must become the source and root of our lives for everything flows from love. Love trumps all. “If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or clanging cymbal…If I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, NLT.
The source of our life cannot be our jobs, our ministry, our families, or relationships. Why? Because all these become an unstable foundation when we try to draw our identity and hope from these places. This leads to performance, people pleasing, anxiety, and depression. We become driven by fear instead of moved by love. When the storms of life flood in, we become like a reed swaying in the wind. We become like seeds on rocky soil. “…since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last very long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word” Matthew 13:21, NLT. I want to be so rooted in the heart of God that His heart becomes my heart. I want His love to be the source and root of my life, nothing else.
Jesus was moved by compassion for people. The Greek word is splagchnizomai (σπλαγχνίζομαι) which from the Strongs concordance means “to have the bowels yearn, to feel sympathy.” In ancient times, this was believed to be the seat of emotion. The Bible Hub reads, “splagxnízomai – “from splanxna, ‘the inward parts,’ especially the nobler entrails – the heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys. These gradually came to denote the seat of the affections“
Jesus was deeply moved out of compassion. He saw people and “he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” Matthew 9:36. I believe our spirits can expand to touch every part of our being so that even our emotions align with the heart of the Father and feel so deeply His heart for His beloved children. His heart is to release life over His beloved ones for them to come alive. As His children, I believe that he wants His life to fully envelope us inside and out. I want to yield my heart, mind, and body to His Spirit to be filled to overflowing with His life. I want the rivers from the throne room of God to flow in me and through me, to release life.
This life is the Zoe life talked about in the Scriptures over and over again. This life moves beyond our Spirit, encompassing every part of our being until we are consumed by love, consumed by Him- One with Him. The Bible Hub, Strong’s Greek Concordance says, “the New Testament, “zóé” refers to life in its fullest sense, encompassing both physical and spiritual dimensions. It is often used to describe the eternal life that is granted through faith in Jesus Christ. This life is not merely an unending existence but a quality of life that is abundant and fulfilling, characterized by a relationship with God.” Jesus shows us the way to this life, He is the path (Acts 2:28, John 14:6). “In him was life and that life was the light of men” John 1:4. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life” (Zoe life) John 10:27-28.
God’s heart is for us to be in health and prosper as our soul prospers (3 John 1:2). His heart is for the life of God to encompass every part of our being body, mind, emotions that His Spirit encompasses all of us releasing His life. This life brings the dead parts of us back to life. He releases His resurrection life to every part of us. He brings restoration to our souls (Psalms 23:3) and makes us whole. He makes all things new.
Jesus said, “If you follow me you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” John 8:12. Jesus longs to come into our hearts with His resurrection life when we open our hearts to Him. “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me” Revelation 3:20.
There is this beautiful invitation to surrender all of ourselves to Him in a way that His life flows through every part of us. Matthew 16:24-25 reads, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross and follow me. If you try to hang out to your life (psuche-physical body/flesh), you will lose it. But if you give up your life (psuche) for my sake you will find it (zoe- eternal life).” Jesus longs for us to come and join our lives to His life; so, we truly know what it means to overflow with His life. When we hold back parts of ourselves from Him; we miss out on this beautiful invitation to find life in death. In surrendering our life to Him fully, we find this eternal life in Jesus that far exceeds anything on this earth. We feed on Him and He becomes our life. “…anyone who feeds on me will live because of me” John 6:57. Jesus is the Prince of Life (Acts 3:15). The life he gives, “becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within… giving….eternal life” John 4:13. The passion version reads, “flooding you with endless life.” There is glory in complete surrender and yielding every part of us to His Spirit. He longs for us to be overflowing with His life in such a way that every place we go life is released. We release His glory, His healing, freedom, breakthrough- His zoe life. Firstly, I believe he longs for this fullness of life to be released deep inside each of His children.
Would you open your heart fully to Jesus? Would you allow His Spirit to come into every part of your heart, mind, and body to purify you and wash over you with this zoe life. My prayer is for God to come into every part of my heart, mind, and emotions and align my heartbeat with His. I want to move in unison with His movement. I want to speak words from His heart. I want to know Him deeply and be joined to Him intimately, so that we move as one unit.
I pray for each of you that every part of you would overflow with His life. I typed out a prayer from my heart. If God leads you, I want to challenge you to open your heart before God and ask Him to show you any painful places or places that feel numb or dead inside of your heart and soul. I believe he longs to flood in with His life and healing. I pray that His life would spring forth over you today that you would feel His refreshing, purifying waters over your heart, mind, and body.
I typed a reflective prayer below or you feel led to pray it out loud to ask God to do some heart surgery. You can also sit with him and pour out your heart and just be open before Him :
God, I pray that you would come into every area in my heart, mind, body, and emotions. Thank you for your life that encompasses all of my being. I pray that in every dead area in my life your life springs forth over me. May every dry place become a spring of life. May every wound be healed as you walk me through the pain and breathe your life into my lungs. Show me any places I need to sit with you in and invite your healing waters in.
May every area where unbelief crept in, you shine the light of your word. May every place of deep pain you meet me with your comfort and love to release the anger and deep sorrow from my heart. Thank you for your grace to walk in forgiveness for others and myself. Expose every place of pain Lord in my heart that cause me to walk in paths of darkness and bring these places into your light, so I can walk in your paths. Thank you that your word is a light to my feet and a light to my path. God, help me release every offense to you and stay in a place of love.
I thank you that I am your daughter ( or son). I thank you that I am seated in the heavenly places with you. I thank you that I am made new in you. I thank you that you love me and I love you. I choose to follow you Jesus. Thank you that you continually align my body and mind to your thoughts as I yield to your Spirit. Lead me in your ways. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for meeting me here today and speaking to me.

I bought this digital art from Deo Gloria Art. If you would like to check him out he has a website. I felt it really was a beautiful picture of God’s heart to bring life.
